PERSONAL VISION
I am not quite sure exactly where I want to be in 20 years, but the most important thing to me is that I am happy in my life, no matter where it takes me. I know that I want to continue to express my creativity through dance and performance, and possibly even choreographing or having my own dance company. I also want to continue to be intellectually challenged even after I leave college and move forward in my life. I would like to work in a field that will challenge me in this way, perhaps teaching or working in a museum.
ACTION PLAN
Currently, I would like to graduate from college with a degree in English or Creative Writing, but I am open to change. I plan on exploring many different academic options in college in order to find what I am most interested in and what will serve me best in the future. I would like to go to graduate school, and am considering persuing a career in education or in museum curation. While in college I plan to complete internships in these areas to gain a better understanding of my career desires. I would also love to study abroad to expand my view and experience of the world.
During college, I will also find a way continue my dance training and improve my skills. I will continue take classes regularly as well as dance in a company-like setting, learning repertory and performing. Additionally, I plan to take advantage of the dance resources at my college. I would like to join clubs in which students can both choreograph and perform dance pieces. Additionally, I am considering persuing a minor or second major in dance.
After college, I am not certain how I will continue to dance. A professional career as a dancer is extremely unpredictable, but I would like to try to continue dancing and performing into my adulthood. Additionally, I think that having a background in dance will be very valuable as an educator, or as someone who studies and curates the arts. I have even considered going into arts administration as a way of staying connected to dance.
Overall, my main plan for the next 20 years of my life is to explore and learn as much as possible while making sure to be involved in activities, classes, and, eventually, jobs that are in line with my interests.
